Bond Timber scoops a third of the awards at national WPA Awards
Shaun commented, “I am extremely proud of the team and their hard work and dedication that has led to us receiving these two awards. The award for quality excellence is highly regarded within the timber industry and it is a testament to the team, training and continuous improvement that we in invest in on-site”.
Commenting on the double-award success of Bond Timber, WPA director Steve Young said: “This is a tremendous achievement and testimony to the commitment to quality and customer service that runs throughout the entire company. After winning WPA Treated Wood Trader of the Year in 2015, Bond Timber has not rested on its laurels but has continued to strive to be the best. All involved with the company deserves credit for the success in the 2016 WPA Awards for Wood Protection Excellence”.
To be eligible to receive the Award for Quality Excellence, businesses must produce products in accordance with one of the three WPA Benchmark schemes. Bond Timber recently became the first timber treater in the UK to achieve the Benchmark scheme for their 30 year gold treated pine fencing stakes and rails; it was this outstanding achievement that fuelled their nomination.
WPA Director, Steve Young, says that building market confidence in treated wood performance is at the top of the WPA’s agenda. It is the aim to improve buyer’s faith in TANALISED timber through working with timber treaters throughout the UK to achieve Benchmark accreditation on their products and to set the bar on quality assurance.
As a credit to the hard work that Bond Timber put in to supply first class products to their customers, their timber has been selected for some outstanding projects across the South West. Bond Timber were chosen by Hang Loose Adventure owner Brian Phelps to supply 60m3 of TANALISED timber for the Hang Loose centre at the Eden Project.
It was this project submission that won Bond Timber the ‘Wood Preservation Project of the Year” award, in recognition of excellence in the use of wood and the integrity of their on-site treatment processes. Brian commented:
“I used Bond Timber because they are a local and friendly firm. I experienced an excellent service and in my opinion they are one of the easiest timber firms in the industry to work with. I am pleased that Bond Timber has won this award and were able to be involved with the Hang Loose project. The preservative treated timber was an important factor to the project to enable the longevity of the designs appearance as much as possible”. www.hanglooseadventure.com
